Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps® 70 Years of Service
Celebrating 70 Years of Service to the Bayside Community
For seven decades, the Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps® — now proudly operating as the BVAC Rescue Response Training Center — has served the Bayside and Queens community with unwavering commitment, compassion, and professionalism. What began in 1955 as a small group of dedicated volunteers has grown into a respected public safety organization known for its lifesaving response, community support, and high-quality emergency training programs.
Our Legacy of Community Service
From its earliest days, BVAC has stood at the forefront of community-based emergency medical services. Volunteers answered calls day and night, responding to accidents, medical emergencies, and community needs long before formal EMS systems existed. Over the decades, BVAC has trained thousands of citizens, EMTs, and responders — empowering ordinary people with the skills to save lives when seconds matter.
Today, our mission continues through expanded training programs, lifesaving courses, community outreach, and public safety partnerships throughout New York City.
Building the Future While Honoring the Past
The transformation into the BVAC Rescue Response Training Center marks a new chapter while preserving the spirit and foundation of the original Corps. Our facility now offers nationally recognized certifications, including:
- American Heart Association CPR, BLS, ACLS & PALS
- NAEMT Trauma & Tactical Medicine Courses (PHTLS, TECC, TCCC)
- NYS 18-Hour Concealed Carry Firearm Safety Course
- EPA Lead & Mold Certification Programs
- First Response Essentials & Community Preparedness Training
These programs reflect BVAC’s long-standing mission: to serve, to educate, and to protect our community.
Honoring Our Volunteers and Leadership
BVAC’s 70-year legacy exists because of extraordinary volunteers, instructors, supporters, and board members who dedicated countless hours to the community. Their commitment shaped the organization’s culture of service, responsibility, and integrity.
We honor every member — past and present — who helped strengthen BVAC’s role as a beacon of safety and community support.
Looking Ahead to the Next 70 Years
As we celebrate this milestone, BVAC remains focused on the future: expanding access to lifesaving education, strengthening community partnerships, and continuing the mission of service that began in 1955.
Thank you to our community, partners, supporters, and volunteers for making 70 years of service possible. Our commitment to Bayside and the people of New York City remains as strong as ever.
