Imagine a regular at a neighborhood gym finishing a workout, sitting down, and suddenly collapsing. The people nearby know his face. Someone calls his name. Another person reaches for a phone. A third remembers seeing an AED near the front desk but has never opened its cabinet.
Every September, National Preparedness Month serves as a reminder that emergencies can happen at any time. Severe weather, fires, power outages, medical emergencies, transportation disruptions, and other unexpected events often occur with little warning.
Severe bleeding can happen almost anywhere.
A serious injury may result from a vehicle crash, workplace accident, broken glass, power tools, recreational activities, falls, or other unexpected incidents. In a major emergency, multiple people may also be injured at the same time.
