Be prepared to help your dog or cat in an emergency. This 4-hour class is designed for pet owners and animal caregivers who want real-world skills for common pet emergencies—before you can get to a veterinarian.

Important: This course is NOT a replacement for veterinary care.

You will need to go purchace a Plushy Dog Toy to practise on while being in class

What you’ll learn (course overview)

• Introduction: What pet first aid is, emergency preparedness, course objectives
• Preventing emergencies: Common mistakes, behavior training, early warning signs
• Personal safety & animal handling: Body language, restraint, safe transport techniques
• Vital signs: Normal vital signs, pulse points, capillary refill time
• Responding to emergencies: Common pet emergencies, shock care, bleeding control, CPR, choking intervention
• Travel & outdoor safety: Pet-friendly trip planning, ID use, safety tips
• Disaster action plans: Local risks, pet emergency kit planning

Skills tests are included in key sections (handling, vital signs, and emergency response).
